Here at NCCE we pride ourselves on the exceptional service we provide to our learners in subjects such as Early Years, Childcare, Children's Social Care, and Teaching Assistant qualifications.

As a CAVA learner with NCCE, you will be trained by expert assessors and have the opportunity to work with our learners in childcare subjects, including assessment in the workplace, remote assessment (such as carrying out professional discussions), and marking or theoretical work.

Providing you have a childcare, residential childcare, or teaching assistant background yourself, you will have the opportunity to work with us. Please note, you will need an enhanced DBS to work with our learners and this will need to be evidenced before you begin your practical work.

While our training is geared towards our specialist areas, the CAVA qualification will allow you to assess in any area of your vocational expertise, so you are welcome to join our course from any background. However, if you come from a different vocational background, you will need to supply your own (minimum of two) learners to carry out your assessments.

This qualification includes theory and practical. You must be able to demonstrate assessment practices with at least two learners, covering a range of knowledge and competency assessment methods.

This qualification is made up of three units, as follows:

Unit 1: Understanding the principles and practices of assessment: Within this unit, you gain the underpinning knowledge and theory of assessment processes so that these can later be applied to practice.

Unit 2: Assess vocational skills, knowledge and understanding & Unit 3: Assess occupational competence in the work environment: Within these units, you will first learn and practice how to assess learner theory work based upon a childcare qualification, or based upon a qualification of your choice. You will also complete mock observations on a childcare learner through simulation. Upon successful passing of the simulated activities, you will be invited to work with our NCCE Assessors and learners to complete real practical assessments, including observations in the learner's own workplace.

This qualification is designed for those who currently work, or wish to work in the field of assessment. It is designed to support the assessment of all Apprenticeships and vocational qualifications.

At NCCE we specialise in supporting you to become a highly professional assessor in the field of childcare, children's social care, or teaching assistant qualifications.
