The Level 3 Certificate in Coaching and Therapeutic Practice with Children and Families aims to provide learners with the skills and knowledge necessary for coaching and therapeutic practice focused on children and families. It's designed for parents, childcare professionals, and existing coaches looking to specialise in therapeutic coaching. It is an ideal starting qualification for our ACFC and ACCHP Accredited and SEG QLS Certified Level 5 suite.

You will cover four comprehansive units of study within your certificate programme, which can be studied at your own pace.

Unit 1: Fundamentals of Coaching and Therapy in Family Contexts: This unit explores the principles of coaching and therapy within family contexts. It delves into different therapeutic models effective in these settings and the adaptation of approaches to suit various family dynamics. The unit also focuses on ethical considerations and effective communication skills tailored to children and families, emphasising cultural sensitivity in therapeutic practices.

Unit 2: Child Development and Family Dynamics: This unit offers an understanding of child development theories and stages, including Piaget's cognitive development stages and Erikson's psychosocial stages. It examines the principles of Family Systems Theory and its impact on child development, exploring developmental challenges and strategies for addressing them. Additionally, it covers how to support parents and caregivers in effective parenting processes.

Unit 3: Therapeutic Techniques for Children and Families: The unit addresses therapeutic play, behavioral and regulation techniques in family settings, and various intervention methods for family and child therapy. It includes understanding play therapy, behavioural modification techniques, and professional and ethical boundaries in intervention and referral.

Unit 4: Professional Practice and Continuing Development: This unit focuses on the legal and professional frameworks relevant to working with children and families in the UK. It covers effective case management, documentation skills, the importance of interprofessional collaboration, and methods for continuing professional development.
