A Career as a Teaching Assistant

As a teaching assistant, your role will vary depending on the school and the age of the children you are working with. Your duties may include supporting individual students or small groups of students in the classroom, helping with lesson planning and preparation, supervising students during break times, and providing administrative support to teachers.

You may also be responsible for supporting students with special educational needs or disabilities, and working with them on specific learning plans or interventions.

Working as a teaching assistant can be a rewarding career, as you will have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of young people and support their educational journey. It can also be a challenging role, as you will need to be patient, adaptable, and able to work well in a team.

Here at NCCE, we offer a range of regulated teaching assistant qualifications, including:

- CACHE Level 2 Award in Support Work in Schools
- CACHE Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools
- CACHE Level 3 Diploma, Certificate, and Award in Supporting Teaching and Learning

We also offer opportunities for Teaching Assistants to up-skill to become a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) or specialise in areas such as Phonics or Lego Therapy, such as:

- CACHE Level 4 Certificate for the Advanced Practitioner in Schools and Colleges
- TQUK Level 4 Certificate for the Higher Level Teaching Assistant
- CACHE (Accredited) Level 4 Diploma in Phonics and Early Reading
- CACHE (Accredited) Level 3 Award in Brick Play and Lego Interventions

Learners on our Teaching Assistant courses will have access to our digital learning resources, including on-demand interactive learning, taught online sessions, and a library of webinars to aid continued CPD in supporting education and child development. All our Certificates and Diplomas at Level 2 and 3 include observations of your practice in the workplace by a qualified NCCE Assessor.
